Abstract

In a first ever two-week physical oceanographic campaign undertaken in the coastal waters of the Maltese Islands, a ship-borne Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler has been used to study the water currents regime in the area of two coastal embayments. A new computer softwarepackage called ADCPCHECK has been produced for data quality checking of ADCP raw data files as well as for drawing new forms of graphical displays which permit intercomparisons and 3-D visualisations of the current vector data.
